The Los Angeles Angels got blown out 14-6 by the Athletics Tuesday night, but that wasn’t the worst part of the evening for supporters of the Halos.

A loud contingent of fans in the outfield took off their shirts and loudly chanted for owner Arte Moreno to sell the team.

The "affordability" of Angel Stadium does not seem to be appeasing a vocal contingent of fans in left field, who continue to chant "Sell the team!" and "Arte sucks!" It seems many have reached a breaking point with this losing franchise and owner Arte Moreno. #Angels

Mike DiGiovanna, a former Los Angeles Times sportswriter and host of the “Halo Territory” podcast, said the fans were also chanting “Arte sucks,” in the process referencing Moreno’s statement before the season that Angels fans prioritize affordability over winning.

In February, Moreno told Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register that “believe it or not, winning is not in [Angels fans’] top five” priorities.

“The number one thing fans want is affordability,” Moreno said, citing Angels survey results. “They want affordability. They want safety, and they want a good experience when they come to the ballpark.

That may no longer be the case, though, given the upset fans at Tuesday’s game.

“It seems many have reached a breaking point with this losing franchise and owner Arte Moreno,” DiGiovanna wrote on social media.

Angels fans are ramping up their campaign against Arte Moreno

Many of those fans are expected to protest Moreno again this weekend.

On Friday, fans are asking fellow supporters to wear black in the right field pavilion to call for Moreno to sell.

There’s also a protest scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday at the State College Boulevard entrance to the stadium.

Angels fans on social media like @VinylTeknition are promising a raucous atmosphere.

“If you thought the ‘Sell the Team’ and ‘Arte Sucks’ chants were loud on TV already, this weekend’s gonna sound like October at a protest rally,” they wrote. “Bring earmuffs, casuals.”
