Kai Trump might be the granddaughter of United States President Donald Trump, but that doesn’t mean that she is all that interested in politics herself.
During a recent appearance at the ESPY’s, Kai made it pretty clear that despite her family name, she tries to stay away from politics as she creates a career for herself.
Kai Trump
The eldest granddaughter of Donald Trump, 19-year-old Kai Trump is set to begin her first year at the University of Miami, where she is currently committed to play golf. In addition to her golf career, Kai Trump also has a budding career as a social media influencer.
Trump built an impressive competitive resume on the Srixon Medalist Tour, AJGA, and South Florida PGA circuits as a rising junior golfer before signing with Miami. She made her LPGA Tour debut in November 2025 while still a high school senior, and has spoken about her professional ambitions, telling Fox News that she believes the University of Miami is the place to pursue a pro golf career.
Not Into Politics
She may have the last name of Trump, but during a recent interview with Sportico, she made it pretty clear that she’s not into politics, saying it’s “not my thing.”
“Honestly, I kind of stay out of politics completely,” Kai said during the interview. “It’s just not my thing.”
Instead, she’s focused on golf and her vlogs.
“I just like showing my life and showing how you can still be an athlete, and you can still do a ton of other things, enjoy a ton of other things. So, I kind of just like showing people that everything’s possible. And I love showing the new generation my progress through college, eventually, but also how I got to where I am today,” she said.
Kai Trump was then asked about the UFC 250 event that was hosted by Donald Trump at the White House lawn last month, which integrated politics into sports. Once again, she reiterated that she tries to stay out of politics, but she did praise the UFC event.
“Honestly, I kind of stay out of politics completely,” Kai said. “It’s just not my thing. But I think the UFC event was great. And it was really cool being there and especially having veterans in the stadium as well.
“I thought it was great,” she said.
While Kai was clearly trying to stay away from politics during this interview, it’s worth noting that she did speak in support of her grandfather at the Republican National Convention in 2024.
