‘Insight' sod finds new home on Glendale's youth fields

The Insight Bowl played at Chase Field required the use of special turf to be installed for the game. Through a program sponsored by the Maricopa County Stadium District, West Coast Turf and the Insight Bowl/Fiesta Bowl, this “Field of Dreams” has been donated to the city of Glendale for use at the Glendale Youth Sports fields located adjacent to the Cardinals stadium. The 13-acre park will be laid with the Insight sod and utilized by amateur youth sport activities, such as soccer and football and also to hold special events in connection with the Arizona Cardinals, Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority and the Fiesta Bowl. Council Member Joyce Clark said that this sod was a tremendous gift from the MCC Stadium District.
“There will be four practice fields, one feature field, restrooms, locker room, a team room and a concession stand available at this facility,” Clark said. “This will give our youth another place to play.”
