‘I’ve really enjoyed my first year here’ – Canada’s Derek Cornelius on adapting to life at Marseille
With eight games to go in Ligue 1, Marseille defender and Canada international Derek Cornelius has almost completed his first season in French football. Speaking to Get French Football News at a press conference ahead of Marseille’s trip to Reims on Saturday, the defender gave his thoughts on adapting to life at Olympique de Marseille.

“It’s definitely been an interesting season. The league has been very competitive, there aren’t any easy games and you have to work hard to get three points. It’s exciting and fun (the culture). Every day I come into work there’s a new challenge in training, and always another challenge on the weekend. I’ve really enjoyed my first year here and I hope that stays the same for years to come.”
The 27-year-old joined Olympique de Marseille this summer from Swedish side Mälmo and has since made 19 appearances for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
