The name that sticks in my head with Beck is Chris Weinke. Older, high profile, successful college QB, tall with physical tools, capable of starting early, not going to be a franchise QB.
Even though there's still some defensive talent on the board and we need to address that side of the ball too, the guy I'd most like to see us take in the 4th is OT Crownover. Don't think he's an immediate starter, but could develop into one.
I feel like we're destined for that next year at this point anyway.. so if you'd rather see what a young guy can give you going 1-13 vs what a vet can give you Going 1-13, so be it
After Hill Jr went, there was no one I was desperately hoping we'd take. I'm not all that high on Beck, but not pissed that we passed on anyone else in particular.
I feel like Beck will be the most ready of any QB on the board to take over when we are 0-6 with 5 blowout losses and are ready to see what we have. And what we will have is not a QBofF.
I think, outside of Mendoza, Beck is the most ready to start day 1. I just think what you've already seen is what you'll get, and it's not a franchise QB.
Not my favorite- I think he's high floor low ceiling. Someone you can throw in there when this season goes to crap and audition for the backup QB role for the future.
Hope he proves me wrong.
