Suns Off Season Changes for 2025-26

We got 3 months to make that happen so they can string you along for a bit before moving down your checklist. ;) I honestly don't mind heading into camp with who we have. The right attitudes and a mix of potential/development should be fun to see.

Suns Off Season Changes for 2025-26

We don't need to trim to 15 for a while. It's like 2 weeks before the season starts. Teams are allowed to carry 20 in the off-season. That includes two-way guys so technically we can add 2 more since we sit at 18 total.

Yup. There's a possibility we sign someone to some non-guaranteed deal like Butler but I'd be surprised if that happens so far from training camp.

At least Mark and Josh didn't damage their relationship enough to cause issues with future players while negotiating Beal's buyout. I worried about that and was reminded of Sarver's issues with Klutch players that reached a boiling point with Bledsoe and Earl Watson.

So that basically ensures another move will happen. I know waiving Goodwin should get them under the tax, depending on his guarantee date, but I doubt that happens. One of Royce, Grayson, or Richards will be moved. That's an easy number to manage as far as returning salary also, a small gap like...

Suns Off Season Changes for 2025-26

Looking up Goodwin's splits from last year and he had a good March. What's strange is how he seemingly was twice as productive offensively on Mondays vs any other day. I haven't seen that sort of discrepancy before. That jumped out at me. Probably nothing much to it but examining it over his...

Suns Off Season Changes for 2025-26

If he's cheap and on a year or two deal, he'd be a decent backup with size. We need a backup who plays both sides of the ball and can slide over to SG also and I think Brogdan could do that. I'm not exactly on the "sign him now" train but I can see the value in it. We can certainly do worse.

Hasn't Gambo been hinting at Brogdan? Brightside just posted a good piece about him. https://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2025/7/23/24473053/phoenix-suns-free-agency-target-malcolm-brogdon-development-over-veteran-splash-signings

Suns Summer League, Las Vegas, July 10th- 20th, 2025

Why does Gobert get played off the floor? Lack of shooting. Unlike Oso he can drastically elevate a teams defense. What skill does Oso bring that some journeyman 7' doesn't? Mason Plumlee is a good example of a journeyman. Mason is a better defender, rebounder, and finishes inside better. So...

Did he kill one slicing a ball?

That's fair. He has really bad mechanics but he was also not drafted for his shooting, neither was Oso. It kind of goes back to role and purpose and Ben Simmons and Oso is a bit of a better comparison since he's 6'10" and either plays PG or PF/C. Oso won't be given the ball and told to initiate...

Suns Summer League, Las Vegas, July 10th- 20th, 2025

I don't think he's worth NBA minutes at this point unless we suffer a few injuries. No reason to waive him but I think he should be a fire extinguisher of sorts, at most, as far as "use in case of emergency". I'd much rather give any playing time he gets to Maluach and Fleming. Williams is...

Suns Summer League, Las Vegas, July 10th- 20th, 2025

What NBA player dramatically changed their mechanics to become a shooter between 22-25 years old? I can't think of any. Oso is a cheap insurance policy whose BB IQ is high enough that he's better than a 7 foot cone but ultimately he's not worth investing playing time in if he can't get his shot...

He needs a solid mix. He needs to be outside more than Ayton was but not stuck behind the 3pt line like Bol². I think how Cleveland used Mobley would be ideal. He is always moving around. Mobley averaged 12 attempts a game, which might be high for Maluach, but only 3 attempts from outside. 75-25...

Suns draft Koby Brea with the 41st pick

I have a good friend who is a GS fan and had no clue about Koby after the draft but after Summer League he started talking about he was the second coming of Klay Thompson. It's funny to see it in real time and live. Brea's shot is great but he needs to keep working and we need to be patient with...

Ideally we'll see the Pick and Roll game with Book and Maluach that we hoped to see with Book and Aytom. Jalen and Maluach will be a good PnR duo as well. Maluach scan pop out or roll hard.

    RIP: Ozzy Osbourne (1948-2025)

I want to say he was diagnosed within the last year. Rumors of how long he had known vary but it went public not long ago and was known when he retired from stage.

Maluach is still raw. He had moments where he showed what he can be but he was also lost a fair bit. He never lost confidence, like Ayton, which was encouraging. He showed a surprisingly good range and confidence on his shot from outside. Brea was a surprise. Kid is like a young Klay Thompson...

    RIP: Ozzy Osbourne (1948-2025)

I used to go to Ozzfest every year in the early 00's. Saw Ozzy half dozen times. Despite being the oldest guy on the bill he was usually the most energetic on stage. Absolute icon whose influence is immeasurable in music and culture, IMO.

@Brian in Mesa maybe you can move this to Music. Really wasn't sure since he's such a pop culture icon. Kind of fits everywhere.

Suns draft Khaman Maluach with the 10th pick

I am curious what we were offered but I'm glad that isn't readily available to sort of provide a different path to compare things to. This front office earned some goodwill from me for taking the player they should have and staying on the path we're on. Time will tell if it was the right choice...

    New Owner - Mat Ishbia

Elie Okobo, Isaiah Canaan, Tyler Johnson, Juwan Evans, Mike James, Shaquille Harrison, and Tyler Ulis. Throw in some Elfrid Payton also to further ruin your day. He's probably the only name and face people remember and sadly it wasn't his face as much as his hair that made him memorable. It...

Suns Off Season Changes for 2025-26

Dunn needs minutes but should not be gifted a starting role to start the year. I'm fine with him receiving the role post trade deadline but we don't need to wave the white flag on the season until around then. Competing with Brooks for starting gig should bring out a more aggressive version of...
