Spurs @ Suns Tuesday game thread, 10-31-2023

I have that internal debate a lot these days. Every time you think you are following a team that is "dialed in," they always find a way to break your heart.

Indeed. I worry this could be some arrogance that could come back to haunt us. It seems like the attitude of the coaching is that we are so good, we can play at half strength just to get to the post season... and not going to worry about sacrificing a game here and there in order to "protect"...

Bleeping stupid, it was. But the Suns biggest problem (as has clearly been proven in both of these losses) is that they literally have no one on the bench who can reliably handle the ball coming up court and/or apparently execute a set offensive play without chucking the ball into the second row.

Yeah, that was some kind of clueless, for sure. And once again, no minutes for KBD or Metu, even when the rotation guys started to flounder.

You might have missed the part where he half-assed it after the jump ball and let the Spurs get an easy breakaway.

I'm feeling that way lately, too. Most of my teams are finding unique ways to disappoint.

Starting to see why some of these guys (Eric Gordon, ahem) weren't exactly in high demand this offseason. I haven't exactly been wowed by the coaching so far either.

WTF... what a clown show. Fricking need to stop "load managing" Booker and Beal. These subs are subs for a reason. Geezuz.

    Challenge that ****.

Yeah, bleep. With Booker and Beal out, no one can handle the ball decently. Unfortunately, Goodwin just isn't really PG skilled on offense. When Durant is your third best option as an offensive quarterback, that isn't good.

Wembanyama is probably going to get superstar treatment from the refs almost immediately, you just know it. If the NBA mandates it, that will be what happens, unfortunately.

Harden just about more than anyone else has had trouble fitting into a "three stars" alignment. One can easily imagine any team chemistry with the Clippers going south fast.

Indeed... that's some serious lack of elevation on a jump shot.

    2023-24 Around the NBA Thread

It's weird how in basketball more than any other sport, great players' brothers are almost always infinitely inferior in talent, if not downright awful. Certainly, as Suns fans, we have witnessed it up close and personal. I'm not so sure if the rest of the world is as aware of this mysterious...

Rooting for both them and Boston to fall on their faces just to clown ESPN (and various other purveyors of so-called sports media).

Washington State @ ASU 5PM Kickoff

ASU beats WSU pretty convincingly. Second win of the season, and they are getting better week by week.

I guess nobody is watching because of the DBacks and Suns games, but ASU giving another solid effort tonight.

    AYTON TRADED!

I think Benoit Benjamin's failures were more of a case of being immature and uncoachable. He also had drug issues during his career and some run-ins with the law after it. His troubles were mostly of his own making. It's possible that Ayton could go that route if his inconsistent performance...

World Series Game 1 5 PM Friday

Phillies were the better team, too... on paper. But that isn't what wins the games. In the MLB post season, it's really all about momentum - who seizes it and whether the other team can shift it.

Just old fashioned extra innings. So this may or may not go for a while.

    AYTON TRADED!

Really more and more, he is reminiscent of Joe Barry Carroll, for anyone that remembers his career. Carroll also had a ton of physical ability, but just clearly didn't enjoy playing pro basketball beyond making a lucrative living at it. He had some good statistical years but never came close...

Absolutely no reason not to play Metu or Bates-Diop in a game like this. Did Vogel forget they are on the team? Booker and Beal better be back by the next game.

Suns @ Lakers Thursday game thread, 10-26-2023

Agreed... there was no reason not to go deeper on the bench with Booker and Beal out. I hope we don't have yet another coach who's too stubborn for his own good.

I wonder what would it would take to get Brogdon from Portland? From what I understand, they really don't need or want him with their youth movement.
