The 2025-26 NBA draft prospect watch thread.

I expect Utah to significantly improve next year... which isn't really good news for the Suns since I don't really see the Suns improving (barring some unexpected off season move). Portland and Utah are both poised to be pushing past us next year.

Nobody’s knows but it’s fun to speculate. (Phoenix Suns Rumors). 2026

Funny that the two guys in the league who most desperately need career rehab are showing up in trade rumors for the Suns.

    Brandon Clarke has passed away

There's a kratom business nearby me. I knew it was kind of a "legal marijuana" (before that was actually legal), but didn't realize it was something someone could potentially OD on.

    Brandon Clarke has passed away

He had been having some kind of issues recently. I can't recall specifically, but I had seen a story. I'm not sure if that was related to whatever happened. Still, quite shocking. RIP.

They are set up perfectly as a Suns trade partner.

News from around the NBA 2025-2026

It's probably karma since the Pacers don't really deserve the 5th pick. A freak injury holding your conference winning team back for a year (ala the SA Spurs) is the kind of stuff fate should not reward.

Nobody’s knows but it’s fun to speculate. (Phoenix Suns Rumors). 2026

That's why OKC is smartly loaded up on draft capital. They will be able to swap out their higher cost complementary talent with less expensive drafted talent, and rinse/repeat that for a good long time. Their management saw the future and planned ahead, likely because they learned from the...

    2026 NBA Playoffs Thread

I will maintain to my dying day that both the Durant and the Beal trades were all James Jones' brainstorms, especially the throwing in every possible draft pick from here to eternity. Ishbia signed off on that because he was the new owner and was obviously insistent on doing something splashy...

Nobody’s knows but it’s fun to speculate. (Phoenix Suns Rumors). 2026

Hoop Head proposed a deal of Green for Giddey/Buzelis, which I would heartily endorse if the Bulls could be talked into it. Two younger players with lots of upside. Giddey is one of the best young PGs in the league. I would easily substitute Booker for Green if that's what it would take. Sadly...

Duke signs big deal with Amazon Video

It's because a roster full of five star one and done HS recruits doesn't work any more. Kentucky has taken years to learn that lesson, and I bet Kansas will start to come around to it soon. Michigan proved last year that the new age approach will be to build a roster of complementary...

If it's a flyer for something relatively negligible like say, Grayson Allen, plus whatever fodder makes the contract numbers work, sure.

Yeah, I don't think this is anything but silly talk. But make of it what you will... https://heavy.com/sports/nba/phoenix-suns/phoenix-suns-predicted-to-land-former-no-1-overall-pick-in-offseason-trade/

I don't think you're wrong about that. But I do believe the "run it back again" portion of the fan base are going to be very disappointed after next season.

I would be in favor of that. I don't believe the Suns are smart enough to do something like that, even if the Bulls could be talked into it.

    2026 off season

I mean, I know he's the owner and you expect him to be overly optimistic from a PR standpoint, but a championship in the next three or four years? I'd like to hear the concrete plans for how Ishbia thinks that's going to be accomplished so the rest of us can get enthused, too.

Matt Ishbia and Brian Gregory press conference today. 04/30/26

And no one else (especially Booker) declining in any way or having chronic injury issues. In other words, the slimmest of chances. I really have to laugh at Ish throwing out the Booker leading us to a championship line. I'll take any wager from anyone that whenever the Suns finally do win a...

    2026 off season

Yeah, if that's more than just talk by Ishbia, we are probably screwed. The chances that this exact team improves in any measurable way next year are close to zero. The chances they actually backslide are far greater. I predict at about this time next year, the mood of the end of season presser...

Thunder @ Suns 2026 Playoffs Saturday Game 3 Thread, 4-25-2026

But there's also no guarantee the Suns aren't going to also become worse with Booker. Everyone seems to be automatically assuming the Suns are on some upward trajectory just because we had a better season than expected. But the reality is the Suns don't really have much in the way of...

    2026 off season

I really wanted the Suns to draft Maxime Raynaud last year. Of course, after trading for Williams, there was no way that would have happened, but with Maluach and Fleming, they would have been set for the future at the bigs. I still believe the Williams trade was mistake, last season results...

    2026 off season

A lot of the foregoing posts covered my opinions... but I would also add that the Suns need to prioritize moving in from guys who are constantly injured. I know there's ultimately no way to guarantee everyone's health throughout the year, but the Suns also have a tendency to ignore injury...

Suns Hire Ott as New Coach

Well I'm not saying they're going to do it, just that it's what they need to strive towards. I just hope they don't believe they can recatch lightning in a bottle again, like the first half season, with the exact same roster. I can't see that possibly working.
