How much better can they become? Not much probably. Both should be paid as backups/barely rotation players. 7-9 range I think. Tier below Grayson and maybe a step down from Royce.

13-15m per year for CG would be overpay, IMO. Around 9-10m per would be fair.

It's all about the market and what other teams would pay Gillespie. I'd rather slightly overpay and keep him happy if necessary.

When he first came to the Suns, I wanted them to sign him to a 4-year minimum type contracts with options, but they didn't.

Now the market will dictate how much he gets paid, along with a discount on how much he wants to stay in Phoenix.

IMO, Gillespie is more than O'Neale who makes about $10 million+, with Allen making $18 million+, so I think around $13 million is a sweet spot.

Both would be a slight overpay if this report is correct, and I love them both.

Gillespie has a killer 3P, he is a mistake free/non-nonsense pseudo PG but he is a role player and always will be a target of scoring PG's. He is basically a TJ McConnell caliber of player (with a different profile) and he should be paid like one. McConnell gets 10 mil. and Gillespie should get more but not by 50%.

Goodwin is a rich man's vet min player, 15 mil. / 3 year and both sides should celebrate.

Keith Smith of Spotrac leans towards the Suns picking up contracts on Jamaree Bouyea and Haywood Highsmith.

See below:

Keith Smith June 15, 2026

Phoenix Suns

  • Jamaree Bouyea - $2.6 million team option, contract then becomes non-guaranteed: There’s a good chance Phoenix picks up this option. They need point guard depth, with both Collin Gillespie and Jordan Goodwin hitting free agency. If the Suns end up needing a little more flexibility under the tax or aprons, they could waive Bouyea later at no cost.

  • Haywood Highsmith - $3 million partially-guaranteed contract ($1 million guaranteed): Because the Suns would have to eat $1 million upon waiving Highsmith, they’ll probably keep him. The hope would be that a year removed from injuries that Highsmith would be more productive. If not, $3 million is a nice chunk of salary to use in future trades.

He’s going to whomever pays him the most money. First real contract for the man

I think if the Suns are close, they will be able to keep Gillespie.

There should be a loyalty factor in play because they gave him his first real opportunity to shine and as a starter no less.

Fingers crossed! Gillespie, Goody and Fleming are my favorites on this very likeable group of players. Hope to see much more of Fleming and ManMan in summer league.

The Suns and Dillon Brooks are in negotiations on a long-term contract.Brooks will make $21 million next season before a new deal with a slight pay raise would kick in.Brooks has established himself as a key cog in Phoenix after being traded from the Rockets for Kevin Durant.

The Bucks butchered this situation by not trading him two years ago.

Williams' qualifying offer is for $9.6M. He reached starter criteria, which triggered a higher qualifying offer.

Brea's qualifying offer is for another two-way contract.

Gillespie is a great 3 point shooter. That alone gets you 15 million+ a year in today's NBA.

I really want a 1st rounder. But other than offering Royce, Williams or Grayson we don't have much. Not sure any of them can get us one.

Yep. We need to get younger/more talent while keeping low cost and flexibility. Probably have to go this way for a period of time since we are paying former players and have very few opportunities to get high draft picks. Hope they don't trade away Fleming og Maluach before they blossom.

I like how it seems we totally disregarded our draft picks swinging for the fences when Ishbia first came on. Now, reported, we are putting emphasis on the draft and developing talent. Some owners never change their modus operandi.

I think part of this was a new owner, a GM making poor decisions in regard to the trades for Durant and Beal and the impact of the CBA.

The Suns finally realized they couldn't spend their way out of it.

You could probably add Dunn to this list. I like Dunn but he and Fleming overlap some.

At least partially yes, but I still dream about them becoming a 3&D forward duo that creates a suffocating defensive pressure while at the same time hitting 3-pointers, getting transition baskets, rebounding and doing some occasional scroing.

Gerald Bourguet talks to Bobby Marks about the Suns ability to retain their current players and the importance of staying under the second tax apron not necessarily the first one.

"What it hurts is the ability to go out and get something else"When it comes to re-signing Gillespie/Goodwin/Mark Williams, Bobby Marks explains why the Suns may not mind crossing into the tax or even the 1st apronLISTEN: https://bit.ly/4viCm47WATCH: https://bit.ly/3SgQ9K7
