No, Davis and his agent wanted him to play OT where he would make more money. The Cardinals organization caved to their demands.
my memory is that Denny Green said if Davis was making that much money, he needed to be a LT, not a guard

of course, Davis failed there -- and then went to Dallas to be a guard in free agency. Kind of belies the idea that LT was his preference

Davis was a good OT. We shouldn't act like he was Levi Brown out there.

He was as good as Humphries or PJJ have been to this point. But doesn't really align with the cost of a top pick under the old CBA.

What is this based on?
I’m glad you asked.

Back in the day I worked for a large aerospace company across the street from the tempe training facility. Myself and 7 others were die hard season ticket holders. We would receive invitations to the press briefings held at the training facility. I’m sure they wanted to beef up their crowd for the briefings for local media. We always hung out afterwards and mingled with the press and some of the staff asking questions as concerned fans.

When Davis left for Dallas there were a lot of questions asked. It certainly could be the Cardinals covering their ass for his departure but there was too much talk of his agent’s impact as to where he played based on LT monies from the day he was drafted.

The last item, Davis sucked as a left tackle and nobody in the league wanted to pay him LT money.
