So let me get this straight -- this league wants to be paid like the men's NBA, but doesn't have the money to do so. And their reasoning for this is because the league is "so popular" now, which is due to a player coming into the league that other players consistently insult, beat and hate on? Did I get that right?

From what I've read, sounds about right to me.

What if the WNBA did strike and no one cared?

Never going to happen.

I think this is what the WNBA is proposing.

Yet the women want more.

Multiple Contributors Dec 18, 2025, 07:53 PM ET, ESPN:

While those figures are massive increases, the players are still looking for a greater share of revenue. The union has proposed a system where players receive about 30% of gross revenue, another source told ESPN, while the league proposed a revenue sharing system that granted players less than 15% of net revenue.

This is where I'm at. I like the wnba, but at the same time I wouldnt care if this league went away.

I don't want the WNBA to go away, but they should do it the old fashion way, earn it.

The product is getting much better, but I've never seen a league try so hard to make themselves unlikeable and actively turn off potential customers

It's wild and it's been like that since before they did the first tip

The all star game they had here was incredibly watchable and entertaining basketball and a complete value

Tap into that and sell that

They just put out a video not that long ago hyping up their star players locking down what looked to be team USA teenagers, like it was a flex

That's not how you battle the knowledge that good HS boys can run against them and beat them - it just shows that your best is in a competitive level with teenage boys

Who does that benefit?

Their messaging on almost everything, from organization to the loudest players, couldn't miss the mark more consistently

To me it all boils down to how they are using Caitlin Clark. She provided huge visibility to the league, and yet everyone, from players to league officials treat her like she's the boogeyman. I've never seen a professional sports league treat their cash cow with such disrespect. If I was Clark I would absolutely say, "screw you" to the league and go overseas where she can make a lot more money. The problem is that she likely wouldn't have the lucrative endorsement deals she gets playing in the US, and there is a strong fanbase in the league, even if it doesn't get nearly enough respect from the league.

Instead, the league has gone all-in on anti-Clark rhetoric and hitching their wagon to a player who is just a terrible person who can only do one thing well. It's like the NBA putting all it's money into making Ben Wallace the face of the league in the 2000s.

Doesn't she realize she's negotiating to be a WNBA player? She's paid for the commercials separately.

Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers sent a strong message about the ongoing CBA negotiations, saying, “We can do things off the court. We can bring more visibility and eyes,” Bueckers said. “[We’re in] the national media, on commercials [and] do large sponsorship deals with brands like Nike and Gatorade and stuff that has national, and even global, visibility. We’re more than just WNBA players and I think we want to get compensated as such," per a December 9 article from Myah Taylor of The Dallas Morning News.

Yeah not a smart thing for her to say.

These women are really screwing things up. They were on a major high and the trajectory had a lot of potential, but they've lost most of that now, not only with these ridiculous quotes, but also for the league's treatment of the player responsible for the rise, AND hitching their wagon to a glorified role player that can't keep her mouth shut.
