The WNBA is expanding by three teams at a franchise cost of $250 million each, plus increased revenue of $200 million from media rights alone. There will be also be an increased number of games.

Yeah, no excuse for not paying the players increased revenue.

My guess is $200+ million dollars in new revenue and the money from league expansion would do it.

If not, I'd want to see the books.

The players only want a percentage of income.
Yes but they have operated in the negative since day one. Are you sure a 200 million dollar tv deal will push them into the black? And if so by how much?

The WNBA is an investment that is now paying dividends.

Don't worry about the NBA. They are making money hand over fist. They will get all their money back and more. There is a reason WNBA franchises are now selling for $250 million.

Lots of animosity out there for the WNBA for no good reason other than dislike for some of the players.

Almost everybody liked Sophie Cunningham when she played for the Mercury. Also, Caitlin Clark gets a lot of kudos.

Maybe it's simply a dislike for particular players or I'm afraid it's much, much more.

To be clear, the WNBA doesn't have a fan problem. In fact, fans are flocking to the league like crazy.

The WNBA has a WNBA problem. Both the league and the players are keen to accept that the league is growing and making more money, and yet they turn around and show nothing but hate and disdain for the reason for that growth. I get the jealousy of the players, but it makes NO sense for the league itself to treat Clark like they are. No sense.

The WNBA has always been painfully off message in how they present themselves.

From day 1

They have a generally good game day experience. Players during games are generally fan friendly.

There are the bones for an entertaining product.

From there it all falls apart and they just aren't getting smarter - from leadership to the players

Highlight and promote the actual enjoyable and entertaining part of your league and quit tripping over you feet - they've created 20 years of eye rolls and narrative - they are in the position where they can change this, but they need to package their game more intelligently

I understand the officiating in the WNBA leaves a lot to be desired. If the league office fixes that, a lot of other issues should fall in line.

Player lost her wig during a recent game and a fan got tossed out for finding it funny. SMH.

Seriously why would anyone pay to watch this kind of slop? Soooo bad!
Even after the clear dribbling violation I thought she was going to brick the shot and get her own rebound/mebound.

I know that is parody, but still, this is amazing. It takes a special kind of skill to completely destroy actual good things about your sport. The WNBA is supremely skilled at not taking advantage of, you know, good things.
