Terry McLaurin had his best NFL season in 2025, his sixth in the league. The Washington Commanders' star caught 82 passes for 1,096 yards, and while neither was a career-high, his 13 touchdown receptions almost doubled his previous high.

That's what happens when you finally get a quarterback. Jayden Daniels ended McLaurin's quarterback merry-go-round, leading Washington to its best season in 33 years. McLaurin also caught three more touchdowns in the playoffs. Before last season, McLaurin had only played in one career playoff game, but he played in three last season.

While OTAs are in full swing and training camp will be here before you know it, Pro Football Focus has begun its positional rankings. PFF recently ranked the best NFL wideouts in multiple tiers, from 1-32. At the top were A.J. Brown (Eagles), Justin Jefferson (Vikings) and Ja'Marr Chase (Bengals). Those three were in tier 1. Five receivers were ranked in tier 2 before McLaurin was ranked No. 10 overall — in tier 3.

McLaurin is the toughest player to rank on this list, but regardless of where he lands, he’s simply a high-level receiver. He leads the league with 89 contested catches since 2020, and his cumulative WAR of 1.31 over the past three seasons ranks seventh among wide receivers.

It's almost like a compliment to McLaurin and a slap in his face. It's correct that he's ranked among the top 10. However, why is he so difficult to rank? McLaurin has put up consistently outstanding numbers for years, despite playing with a who's who of bad quarterbacks. During that time, he rarely had another stud receiver on the other side, which meant he was often the target of double teams.
