At least eight horses are considered possible to run in the $2 million, Grade 1 Belmont Stakes on June 7 at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York.

The Belmont is being held at Saratoga for the second consecutive year as Belmont Park is being renovated. The race will be contested at 1 ¼ miles instead of the traditional 1 ½ miles when held at Belmont Park.

The Belmont could match Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty against Preakness Stakes winnerJournalism. Sovereignty skipped the Preakness, which Journalism won on Saturday.

Aron Wellman, co-owner of Journalism, said he would consider bringing the horse back for the Belmont.

"We would love to go," Wellman said. "I think this ownership group ... has made it very clear we take this very seriously and we want to be good ambassadors for the industry and the sport at large. If this horse is in good shape, we'll certainly keep (the Belmont) under consideration. But we have two-plus weeks to determine that, and we'll take all the time we need."

Post time for the final leg of the Triple Crown is set for approximately 6:50 p.m. FOX will provide live coverage from 4-7:30 p.m.

The Belmont draw is set for Monday, June 2.
