What happened in Blue Lock Chapter 318?
In Blue Lock Chapter 318, “I Want To Win”, Japan starts to celebrate for dominating Nigeria in the first half. The commentators burst out, calling Gagamaru’s save divine defense. They reiterate that Japan crushed Nigeria in terms of both defense and offense.
In the Japan team’s locker room, Aiku says to Aryu and Niko that they are doing well, but also pushing it too far. He tells the team to pay close attention to defense in the second half. Meanwhile, Karasu points out to Chigiri and Hiori that they’re focusing too much on the crosses rather than taking a shot at the goal, and urges them to do so.
Later, Anri appreciates the team’s growth and believes that they’ll clear the group stage. Isagi suggests that the team won’t grow any further until they try something new in the second half. Isagi shares his plans, and when Aiku asks about the risks, Isagi suggests that they’ll do both—the new plan and also make another goal.
The perspective shifts to the Nigerian team’s locker room. The players are worried that they’ll lose if this continues, and Ganbali realizes that Onazi hasn’t been able to play properly. Onazi points out that Japan is so good because everyone is trying to score, and suggests that his team should do the same. While the team expresses that they’re not as good as Onazi at scoring, the coach supports the idea.
Back in Japan’s locker room, Ego asks the team why one says, “I want to win?” Isagi says that people say it to show superiority over others. Ego takes it further by saying that it is an instinct carved in the genes, and if everyone felt the same, wars would never end. But with government peace laws, those feelings are suppressed. He urges the team to use those raw instincts against Nigeria.
Finally, both teams enter the field with their strategies in mind.
