It took MetLife Stadium's turf just two New York Giants home games to claim another victim.

In Week 4, Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers became the latest NFL player to sustain a season-ending injury playing on the artificial turf in the Meadowlands. So when New York hosts its second prime-time game of the year in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles, their divisional rival that features a stellar defensive secondary, Nabers will be notably absent.

Given that veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton is also expected to miss Thursday night's game with a hamstring issue, the Giants will miss Nabers a little extra on Thursday night.

What happened to Nabers – the star, second-year receiver the Giants drafted with the sixth overall pick last year?

What happened to Malik Nabers?

During the Giants' Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Nabers tore his ACL and meniscus while leaping to try to catch a pass.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Nabers is expected to undergo surgery to repair both tears this week.

The second-year wideout had also been dealing with a partially torn labrum "for a little while" and a turf toe injury he sustained in college while playing at LSU. With the rest of Nabers' 2025 season over, he'll have the time to consider surgery to repair all of his injuries and recover before the start of the 2026 season.

When will Malik Nabers return?

Nabers will miss the remainder of the 2025 season after he tore his ACL and meniscus in Week 4.

The second-year receiver's injury happened early enough in the season to project a return by the beginning of the 2026 season.

Before his injury, Nabers played in 19 games (17 starts) over two seasons. The 2024 first-round pick tallied 127 catches for 1,475 yards and nine touchdowns. His 107 catches last year led all rookie wide receivers, and his 1,204 yards were second among any first-year wideouts.

When Nabers comes back from his injury next year, he'll immediately return to the leading receiver role in the Giants' offense.
