The Browns' top-ranked defense faces one of its toughest tests Sept. 28 when the team visits the Detroit Lions.

The Browns (1-2) lead the NFL in run defense, allowing just 57.3 rushing yards per game, and defensive end Myles Garrett has been disruptive despite frequent double teams. They’ll try to slow a Lions offense averaging 28 points behind quarterback Jared Goff and a balanced ground attack with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.

Cleveland will be without rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. (shoulder), and right tackle Jack Conklin remains questionable. Left tackle Taylor Decker is also uncertain with an ankle injury for the Lions (2-1).

The Browns offense, still searching for rhythm, has struggled in pass protection. Cleveland is starting offseason signee Cornelius Lucas at left tackle this week. That could be an issue against a Lions front that has thrived in creating pressure.
