LINCOLN CITY, Ind. ― Jett Goldsberry has learned one absolute truth in the world of college football: a lot of patience is required.
The Heritage Hills quarterback didn’t have a single Division I offer entering January. The list has hit two dozen going into the summer. He’s gone from one of the best players in Southern Indiana to a four-star prospect with Power 4 programs in daily contact.
Based on his preferred timeline, Goldsberry is also moving closer to a decision.

The rising senior told the Courier & Press he hopes to make a commitment in late June or early July following a string of official visits. Goldsberry has planned trips to Purdue (5/30), Rutgers (6/8), Ole Miss (6/13), West Virginia (6/18) and North Carolina (6/20).
Those are not his official finalists. Other programs ― Kentucky and Wake Forest offered recently ― continue to call after finalizing their current roster in spring transfer portal.
“You have to be patient and calm,” Goldsberry said. “It’s been kind of crazy. It’s a blessing. We’re prayed for this for a long time. I thank God for everything he’s done for me. It’s truly a blessing to be in this position.”
His rise began on January 26 with an offer from Purdue, his father’s alma mater. What followed were mostly FCS schools before seeing increased attention nationally in April. Other notable programs to extend offers are Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky, Louisiana Tech and Colorado State.
What position he’ll play is currently undecided. His early offers were a mix of running back, safety, quarterback or athlete. His five official visits are looking at him in the secondary, perhaps linebacker if he gets bigger and taller.
“I’m open to moving wherever,” Goldsberry said. “I play so many positions in high school right now. That wouldn’t be a problem. I’m opening to anything. I just want to be on the field.”
The 4-star athlete has already made a name for himself. Goldsberry led Heritage Hills to the Class 3A state championship in November and is getting buzz as a Mr. Football contender. He had 248 total yards and three rushing touchdowns in a 38-15 win over Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Goldsberry’s versatility is a major plus in his recruitment and rise. He totaled 3,575 all-purpose yards and 54 total touchdowns (28 rushing, 26 passing) as a junior with only four interceptions. Goldsberry also had 40 solo tackles and three sacks from the secondary.
Heritage Hills is moving up to Class 4A due to the success factor. The Patriots are still expected to be among the preseason favorites with Goldsberry, fellow Division I recruit Tyler Ruxer and other returning starters.
“It’s been crazy but also awesome,” Goldsberry said. “Lots of calls and texts. Also, lots of discussion with our parents to set up visits and try to make the right decision.”

Despite the increased attention from coaches, the Heritage Hills standout maintains he isn’t rushing a decision. There are certain markers he is searching for at the next level, including the potential for playing time.
Goldsberry is listed as the fifth-best Class of 2026 prospect in Indiana by 247Sports.
“I tell people I've stayed calm throughout the process,” he said. “Take what you can get and evaluate the schools. I want to go where I can get to the play in the first year or two. Nice campus and being around people that you want to be with. There’s a lot of little things that go into it.”
