That would me mistake number 1 for this regime.
Maybe if they could get back a #1. I mean, if Hollywood Brown is worth a #1, Dhop should be worth more regardless of age.
Not an issue of age, IMO...it's an issue of Hop taking another 'allegedly' spiked supplement.

Whipple made it, based on the fact he called the best game over the last 2 seasons, when Kliff wasn't in Cleveland.

Not sure how I feel about keeping him

I don't like having any of the old coaches left over because of familiarity and bad habits from the last staff

Especially someone who will be working with KM all the time when we are questioning his work ethic

There's a few, though, not just him. I trust Gannon, when he said he only kept "like minded" coaches, who were on board with the new program.

Bigger staff than normal. I count 5 more than last year.

Why do you trust JG?

He's all talk for now

I want to believe in him, but it's "show me" time

I would think that getting rid of all the old coaches removes the stench of the prior staff

Now we have players possibly not respecting these coaches based on that

Can JG change the overall attitude and get the players respect?

We'll see

Could this be MB forcing him to keep some coaches to save $?

I am hoping this works and JG can turn it around

I'm just not drinking Kool aid and looking through rose colored glasses

Returning coaches. Previous list did not have Kenny Bell as a returning coach

Kenny Bell (Director, Football Strategy), Ronald Booker (Defensive Quality Control), Buddy Morris (Strength and Conditioning), Mark Naylor (Assistant Strength and Conditioning), Jay Razzano (Coaching Assistant), Connor Senger (Offensive Quality Control) and Spencer Whipple (Pass Game Specialist) will return to the Cardinals’ coaching staff.

Yeah, I have to say I agree. Especially bringing back anyone involved with the offense, especially as a passing game coordinator. Not a good idea.

First, he's not passing game coordinator...Whipple is passing game specialist.

Second, read up on Whipple...He fits Gannon's coaching staff requirements to a T...Young (33), started coaching in college very young...spent time coaching multiple positions in college and now in NFL

So, yes, when it comes to holdovers, like Spencer Whipple, I trust Gannon's word and judgement, that he only kept guys that were on board with his plan.

Regarding the strength coaches and staff, those guys on their 3rd staff and have been highly regarded in the last, within the NFL. It's a no brainer to keep them.

First, it's laughable that this makes a difference--simple typo that means nothing.

Second, I get that he fits Gannon's mold and I am giving Gannon all the time in the world to prove out. I'm simply concerned, because while he might fit Gannon's vision, I can easily see it being seen as a "well, I guess not everything's changing" situation from a player's perspective, and I did not want that kind of a possibility in any way, shape, or form around Kyler Murray. For one, it's a built-in excuse for apologists if he continues to fail, and for another, we have no idea if Whipple is viewed positively or negatively by Kyler. If they don't work well together, that's not good. While I'm sure JG did his homework on this issue, it's just one more niggling worry. This coaching hire process has not been without question, and while it's certainly a different approach, there are a number of concerns. This, to me, is a concern.

It's not a typo Teryl Austin is now the passing game coordinator. Whipple has been demoted.

I mean, Kyler is in the building and has spoken with Gannon every day. You don;t think Gannon might have said to him "How's Coach Whipple?". You don;t think Kyler might have said "Whipple is a good coach is you want my opinion"? Were supposed to believe gannon just hired him without any due diligence?

There's nothing to worry about here. Not even a little. It's all QB coached and minor assistants plus Whipple. No reason to clean house for those guys. Most of them have only been here a year or so.

Oh, so I didn't make a typo? LOL

Sure, Gannon has looked into this extensively, and I'm going to extend him every opportunity to prove it was a good decision. Just because JG made the decision does not, however, mean it is a good decision. I'm glad there's nothing for YOU to worry about, Brit; despite your MO, you do not indeed speak for everyone :)

Yes, you made a typo...you said Whipple was passing game coordinator...he's not.

As for Kyler? You honestly think they'd keep anyone that didn't have a good relationship with Murray? I don't. Remember the comments regarding Kyler having input? Not necessarily making decisions, but at least having input?

:biglaugh:

This conversation is entering the theater of the absurd. I admitted I made a typo, Brit said it WASN'T a typo by misunderstanding my admission (It's not a typo Teryl Austin is now the passing game coordinator. Whipple has been demoted.), I joked that I guess I hadn't made a typo, and you took that literally. Unreal. Are clowns going to start jumping out of cars now? I'm sitting here giggling at my computer on my lunch break. So, I guess, thanks for the laughs

At any rate, I'm hoping this doesn't become an issue, and thinking it won't be, but I sure would have liked the peace of mind knowing it cannot in any way, shape, or form, possibly be an issue because they simply cleaned the offensive staff out.
