The day is finally here. The Raiders are in New England today for their season opener at Foxboro against the Patriots. Which brings our countdown to kickoff to zero. Or perhaps double zero. And with that, we take a look at who currently dons the number in Silver & Black and who has brought it the most distinction.
Up until a few weeks ago, CB Jakorian Bennett wore number zero for the Raiders. But the Raiders traded him to Philadelphia for DT Thomas Booker IV.
Technically, he wore 00. But for the purposes of our countdown, it's the same thing. Especially when you consider the number 00 is not longer allowed to be worn. Otto was the first career Raiders Hall of Famer. He joined the team in their inaugural 1960 season. His second season began an unreal streak of 12 straight Pro Bowl seasons with ten All Pro nods in there as well. In 15 years in Silver & Black, he never missed a game. He retired in 1974 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980. Otto passed away in May of last year at the age of 86.
