Most of the time when you hear the words "welcome to the NFL" it's because a player was on the receiving end of a big hit. But in the case of Ashton Jeanty, he did the welcoming.
Late in the first quarter, Jeanty took a handoff and hit the truck stick to pick up 13 yards. And thus introducing himself to the NFL.
A few minutes later, he did it again. This time in short yardage at the goal line to get the touchdown an put the Raiders up 10-3.
These kinds of broken tackles were what Jeanty became known for last season at Boise State. It's what the Raiders were hoping to get from him when they made him their pick at sixth overall in this year's draft. It's gotta be great to see him doing the same thing to NFL players he had been doing to college players.
Jeanty had come out of the game on the previous drive after getting banged up. He headed for the medical tent to get checked out and came out cleared to continue playing and returned to the bench. I think it's fair to say he is definitely ok. And, hey, maybe that first hit got him back into the swing of things, leading to him giving it back.
