Chris Pollard has found his new home.
After leading the Duke baseball team to four NCAAA Super Regional appearances in his 12 seasons as the Blue Devils lead man, Pollard is expected to take over the program at Virginia, D1 Baseball's Kendall Rodgers reports.
The news comes just one day after Duke was eliminated by Murray State in the NCAA Tournament Durham Super Regional.
"We weren't very good, and a lot of people wrote us off on social media, but our guys never wavered in their belief in themselves and in what we had done to prepare," Pollard said after Duke's win over Oklahoma State on June 1. "We were really good over the second half of the season, and I thought that was on display here tonight."

Pollard inherits a Virginia program that’s been one of college baseball’s gold standards under former coach Brian O’Connor (Who left for Mississippi State). O'Connor guided the Cavaliers to 18 NCAA appearances, seven College World Series trips and the 2015 national title. The transition marks the end of an era in Charlottesville, but hiring Pollard signals that UVA plans to stay on the national stage.
Virginia finished the 2025 season 32-18 overall and 16-11 in ACC play, falling short of a return trip to Omaha after a strong start to the year. Duke's season ended with a 41-21 record.
