The Minnesota Vikings are not new to dealing with outside noise and doubt due to unmitigating circumstances. Early on in the process of getting to the 2025 season, they are already having to hear about it once again.
Their new starting quarterback, J.J. McCarthy, is alredy having to answer questions that are being poised by Fox Sports 1 host, Colin Cowherd. He is quetioning whether or not the Vikings can not only repeat their 2024 magic, but if McCarthy can be the guy for the Vikings due to questioning his arm strength.
On Thursday, the National Championship-winning quarterback finally broke his silence on the matter in a rare media session.
". . .I would say, you know, a lot of it just comes with the stigma of playing at Michigan, and not throwing the ball a lot. But at the same time… it could be my frame. They don’t see a 6-5, 240 guy, so how can he throw 61 miles per hour at the combine? But at the end of the day, you know, it’s gonna show up, and the people who know, know.”
McCarthy seemingly came out of his shell for the first time as a Viking, and it could be a moment we all look back on and realize it was needed.
This has to be a topic that will no longer be important to McCarthy, as he also spoke about getting ready for training camp with his teammates. He talked about working out with players like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and T.J. Hockenson, to name a few, as he knows he is behind in terms of reps.
McCarthy and his arm will be ready to showcase themselves come July.

"It's a good question, Judd."
