Even Caitlin Clark impresses herself — sometimes!
In a guest spot on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, the WNBA superstar, 23, relayed a story from her college days at Iowa regarding an "iconic scrimmage” to the former Late Show host.
“We were down 15, so we, like, make a couple 3s,” Clark began, telling Letterman, 77, about a scrimmage against the women’s team’s male practice players.
“So when you say we make a couple of 3s, was it you or was everybody making 3s?” Letterman asked.
“It was me, but the points went to the Iowa Hawkeyes,” Clark admitted, laughing.

The two then further discussed the infamous scrimmage, in which the basketball phenom’s skills were caught on video.
“I think I had 22 points in two minutes,” Clark said, to which Letterman laughed incredulously.

Adding even more excitement to the proceedings, a girls high school basketball team was at the gym that day enjoying the scrimmage, “jumping out of their chairs, going crazy” about what they saw, Clark shared.
All of which had an impact on the iconic athlete.

“Usually, I never react when I hit a big shot,” the Indiana Fever star told the Indiana native. “Like I do, but never in a shocked way. After like my fifth 3 in a row in like a minute, I was like ‘Oh my gosh,’ I couldn’t believe it.”
Years later, the practice players are still taking heat from the basketball star — and they're sure to hear it more now that the video has resurfaced online and gone viral.
“Our boy practice players didn’t hear the end of it,” Clark joked. “They still don’t. Like, I still love to bring it up to them, we talk a lot of crap.”
