Before you know it, the 2026 college football season will be here. Your North Carolina Tar Heels, who struggled immensely during Belichick's first collegiate campaign in 2025, are extremely eager to produce for their starving fans.

UNC won't play for seven months, but fans just got a taste of next season's excitement. On Monday evening, the ACC revealed North Carolina's entire 2026 schedule.

  • Week 0: vs. TCU (Dublin, Ireland)
  • Week 1: Bye Week
  • Week 2: vs. ETSU (home opener)
  • Week 3: at Clemson (ACC opener)
  • Week 4: Bye Week
  • Week 5: vs. Notre Dame
  • Week 6: at Pitt
  • Week 7: at Duke
  • Week 8: vs. Syracuse (ACC home opener)
  • Week 9: vs. Miami (FL)
  • Week 10: at UConn
  • Week 11: vs. Louisville
  • Week 12: at Virginia
  • Week 13: vs. NC State

The Tar Heels will start their upcoming season on Saturday, August 29 across the pond, facing TCU in Dublin, Ireland's Aer Lingus Classic at Aviva Stadium. UNC has its first bye week over Labor Day, then returns to Chapel Hill on Saturday, September 12 for its home opener vs. ETSU.

North Carolina makes a trip back to Clemson on September 19 for its ACC road opener, takes its second bye week, then hosts Notre Dame in a marquee matchup on October 3. The Tar Heels spend consecutive weeks on the road, traveling to Pitt (Oct. 10) and Duke (Oct. 17), then hosting Syracuse (Oct. 24) and Miami (FL) (Oct. 31) in back-to-back games at Kenan Stadium.

UNC travels to UConn on November 7, then returns home to host Louisville (Nov. 14). A Nov. 21 trip to Charlottesville, followed by a Nov. 28 Senior Day clash with NC State, close out the regular season.

North Carolina has an extremely difficult schedule, with 10 of their 12 opponents making bowl games last season, including Miami finishing as the CFP runner-up. Syracuse, whom the Tar Heels beat in 2025, is their only FBS opponent without a 2025-26 bowl appearance. ETSU failed to make the FCS Playoffs.

Which games are you most excited about? Does UNC have another tough season ahead, or will ACC contention be in the picture?
