Ok, so I'm confused here... does this testimony back up Trump and Giuliani about there being no quid pro quo? This should help Trump, right?

No, this was something Trump told him to say not his own evaluation

I believe Sondland is a lawyer or for another reason knew to write that as cover.

not exactly. At least not from his statement. What he said was that taylor expressed concern to him that the meeting with Zelensky was being held up because Trump wanted Ukraine to commit to investigations. At the time, Sondland didn't know Burisma was tied to Biden. He talked to Trump by phone and expressed what Taylor had told him and Trump said "no Quid pro quo" about 6 times in a short call.

So Trump said it not Sondland, but the way it's worded Trump didn't tell Sondland to say it, he merely denied there was any Quid Pro Quo when told that's what Taylor was suggesting. All Sondland did was relay Trumps' message.

So you're correct it wasn't his evaluation, but it also wasn't he was told to say it, he was just saying this is what the POTUS made very clear to me.

If you read the whole statement it's clear now that Sondland isn't so sure, he didn't know then about Biden and Burisma and if he had, he'd have objected even more strongly to Rudy being involved, and he'd have probably seen the Taylor exchange different.

So he neither buries nor exonerates Trump IMO.

So, you're saying it's a complete and total exoneration. I knew it!

That's precisely what Trump is going to say, or the guy is a traitor, no in between.

It does shoot down Trumps he said no quid pro quo statements because actually all Sondland did is say TRUMP said no quid pro quo. Trump will keep saying it of course, but Sondland did NOT endorse him on that.

At least not in the statement I have no idea what he's saying now.

The closest thing to a smoking gun in the statement IMO is where Sondland says he saw 2 choices, abandon hope of a Trump and Zelensky meeting(which he saw as essential to do his job), or to do what Trump wanted and run it through Giuliani and talk to him about it even though they all agreed it was totally inappropriate for Rudy to be involved. So he clearly states Trump told them if they wanted Trump to have this meeting with Ukraine, they had to agree to work with Rudy.

That's Quid pro quo but not with Ukraine ironically but with Sondland and the rest of them. You have a job to do as ambassador, in order to do it you need me to hold this meeting.

And it should be mentioned he is the EU embassador, and Ukraine isn't part of the EU. So, why was Sondland involved at all in a potential meeting between the POTUS and the Ukrainian President?

Not clear to me either in the statement he says he wasn't that involved with ukraine but he doesn't explain why he would be at all.

I'm thinking "Comb Over It" is a little more appropriate.

His actual reelection team is selling shirts quoting a guy who admitted the malfeasance. Unreal. And still this country is bending over and grabbing its ankles.

What came out of his mouth must’ve happened in an alternate reality. Otherwise why does he have a need to “go back to the real world?” Conmen. Every single one of them.
