It was so good to finally see Silva knocked out for being a cocky @$$hole.

Funny thing is, a LOT of people felt Weidman was going to beat Silva, myself included. Throughout his UFC run, if Silva showed one achilles heel, it was his takedown defense; an area Weidman excells at. Previous fights, we saw Dan Henderson, Travis Lutter and Chael Sonnen take him down and keep him grounded for periods of time. Difference is, Henderson abandoned his game plan, Lutter's gas tank failed him and Sonnen has had sub defense issues his whole career. Weidman has none of the above issues.. I expected him to take Silva down and grind him for five rounds and win by Decision.

That said, I don't think even WEIDMAN expected he'd be in a position to knock Silva out. Was truly one of the most shocking endings to a fight I've seen in quite some time; and I've followed MMA since UFC 1.

The left that sent Silva to the floor looks like nothing more than a slap... So strange to see a guy like Silva get taken down by such a weak punch/slap... Of course, what followed from Weidman were legit knockout power punches.

From my vantage point, it looked like a off timed jab and Silva slipped while taunting. Credit to Weidman, he finished the fight though with legit hammerfists on Silva. Was crazy.

Also, in a local twist; Weidman spends half his training camps at Power MMA and Fitness in Gilbert. While he's a New Yorker true and through, we can at least claim him as partially our own. Sorta like the nephew we all brag we have.
