The Denver Broncos are signing veteran running back J.K. Dobbins ahead of mandatory minicamp next week. Here's a sampling of how fans and pundits reacted to Denver's interest in Dobbins on Twitter/X.
The Broncos just used a second-round pick to select RJ Harvey in this year's NFL draft, so Dobbins being added to the mix is a big deal in the fantasy football world. In the real world, Denver's backfield depth just got better, and coach Sean Payton now has a full stable of running backs to lean on during the 2025 campaign.

J.K. Dobbins is a low risk, high reward signing by the Broncos.
With RJ Harvey on board, the Broncos won’t be 100% relying on Dobbins. But Dobbins is one of the most explosive running backs in the NFL when healthy.

• Broken Fibula.
• Torn ACL.
• Torn LCL.
• Torn Meniscus.
• Torn Hamstring.
• Torn Achilles.
JK Dobbins never gave up.
The Broncos just got a DAWG.

JK Dobbins had 227 total touches (32 receptions/195 carries) in 13 games last year
That's about 17½ total touches per game, which he translated to 4.6 yards per touch.
Denver won't rely on Dobbins nearly that much this year, so the hope is that his yards per touch would go up

Let's just make this backfield more complicated why don't we https://t.co/Hv28rxEL93

Makes sense now bc can add a veteran on a team-friendly deal. https://t.co/j9JqAnLQzr

Quick thoughts
RJ Harvey managers might be concerned if Dobbins signs but that’s your buying window.
Harvey may lose some goal-line work, but he’s still the favorite to handle passing downs.
Dobbins caught 32 passes last year. Harvey is more explosive and should be the… https://t.co/DFrjMw7LIp

I like this. Dobbins isn’t great but the room imo still needs another body and they need a floor raising fallback option if the Estime/Harvey experiment doesn’t work or come along as quick as they hope. https://t.co/WZzsLMQgq6

Dobbins could have a massive impact offensively if he can stay healthy.
Biggest thing for #Broncos is establishing proper roles at the position. Last year’s rotation was too up and down and nobody had a chance to get the hot hand.

Yes, JK Dobbins is insanely injury prone
Yes, he would instantly become our RB1 if signed
Dobbins/Harvey is way more encouraging than Harvey/Estime
— Bryce (@MileHighMims) June 4, 2025
If the Broncos aren't going to trade for Tyler Allgeier (which they should), then this would be a fine consolation prize.
Yes, Dobbins has a lengthy injury history, but he just has to be a complement back. Plus, he brings something that the Broncos RB room is missing https://t.co/KuQJf8LJTq

Big thing re: J.K. Dobbins, of course is injury rate: he's missed 49 of 90 games (including playoffs) in his career. Intriguing potential part of the RB room. But key word with Dobbins' history is "part." Possible contingency plan if Estimé's rookie fumble issues recur.

Sean Payton might have one more big move up his sleeve.
Dobbins could be a Pro Bowl back… if he stays healthy. https://t.co/4zUl56Uf6I

If they get a deal done, J.K. Dobbins would be a heck of an addition to the Broncos RB room. pic.twitter.com/o8JcSQLzVlhttps://t.co/QDf6AaDDDS

Dobbins was a beast at OSU!
Injuries have certainly hampered him, and he still missed 4 games last year. Nonetheless, he had his best year as a pro in ‘24.
This isn’t an indictment of Denver’s RB room, it’s just potentially adding a good player!@guerillasports_#BroncosCountryhttps://t.co/dTQct8UgtF
— Brandon Krisztal (@BKDenverSports) June 4, 2025
Dobbins ran for 905 yards in 2024.
Javonte Williams led the Broncos with 513 yards in 2024.
If the Broncos can land Dobbins, that would add substantial depth to the running back room. https://t.co/LjLMV57Diq

This would be pretty significant. Still a young back, but extensive injury history. Looked good at times last season (his two 100+ yd games came in weeks 1 & 2) and obv got Denver in Wk 6
I’d feel better about Dobbins/Harvey/Estime https://t.co/BCdJWe4hpx

Three-man backfield will do far more positive than negative with JK Dobbins in the room.
You could argue this will be the best health staff Dobbins will have had his entire career.
A trio of Dobbins/Harvey/Estime is pretty good and still good for Estime’s development who is…

Entering free agency JK Dobbins was one of my favorite available RBs, and while his time on the open market has been long, he may be signing with the BEST possible fit soon.
Please get it done Sean, sincerely #BroncosCountrypic.twitter.com/fKCxlxtDJyhttps://t.co/hSyj8AQPt3

If you think Dobbins is going to take away from what you thought Harvey was going to do for you , you don’t deserve to have Harvey
— EzraSalman (@ezrasalman) June 4, 2025
Signing Dobbins always made sense. Pair him with the rookie Harvey, someone who can pass protect while also adding a veteran presence and some stability to the running back room.
Would be a significant upgrade to that room and the offense.
