One of the top cornerbacks in the class of 2026 is off the board after announcing his surprising commitment on Tuesday.
Four-star corner Caden Harris is a two-way player at Haywood High School in Brownsville, Tennessee. Harris (6-foot, 170 pounds) is rated as the No. 9 player at the position, the No. 4 player in the state and the No. 77 overall recruit in his class (On3).
Harris racked up 30 tackles, seven pass breakups and an interception on defense while catching 37 passes for 782 yards and 11 touchdowns on defense as a junior. He also added a touchdown as a punt returner, per MaxPreps.
Holding 40 scholarship offers, Harris is a coveted recruit and has entertained some of college football's top programs.
Despite a late push from Notre Dame and Georgia, it's head coach Clark Lea and the Vanderbilt Commodores that earned a pledge from Harris on Tuesday, according to an announcement with 247Sports.

Harris' addition is a major recruiting win for Lea and Co. who are coming off their first winning season since 2013 with a 7-6 finish last season.
Georgia had been in contact with Harris this week, and Notre Dame was reportedly his No. 2 school behind Vanderbilt, according to On3's Chad Simmons. Auburn and Missouri were also in the hunt.
In the end, though, Harris spoke highly of Vanderbilt's efforts in offering him early and the overall trajectory of the program.
“They’ve always treated me as a top priority and built that relationship with me the right way,” Harris said via On3. “After my freshman season, they offered and they have been recruiting me hard since. From our first conversation, from my first visit, I always felt the love. Before I had the other offers, stars and all that, Vanderbilt recruited me and wanted me.”
It remains to be seen if Harris will take the official visits that were previously scheduled before Tuesday's commitment.
He was scheduled to take trips to Vanderbilt (May 30), Notre Dame (June 3), Georgia (June 6), Tennessee (June 13), Auburn (June 13), Missouri (June 20) and Alabama (June 20).
