... Well what most of all already knew, but confirmed nonetheless.

Running the ball is good. DJ is a huge asset.

A guy cut from multiple practice squads looks like a all pro compared to Butler and when we don't gift the opposition with great field position each punt out defense has a chance. It also gives our ST a better chance to setup containment on the return. If we would have upgraded Butler 2 season ago who knows what could have been (not hyperbole, he contributed a lot to games we lost).

Larry is awesome as usual.

The play action works thanks to DJ while the rest of our vanilla play calling leaves a lot to desired. Our plays look really stale at times and as if opposing defenses have figured us out. A facelift of some of the playbook might be overdue.

We have a chance to win, at least against lesser teams, when Stanton acts like a game manager instead of trying to be CP. He won't give much help but as long as he doesn't hurt us we can win if the rest of the team picks up the slack. That's a low bar, even for a backup, but Stanton isn't going anywhere this season so if we need him again hopefully they stick with what works.

This team has a long way to go but you can see flashes from the team of last year. If they can build on that and go on a run there might be a chance but the team needs to play better on both sides of the ball, especially the offense.

Also confirmed is that these slow starts are killing us and now becoming a solid trait of this team. It was an issue last year also but nothing to this degree. If we can't figure out a way to come out and score early this will be a long season. We won't play too many teams worse than the niners and slow starts won't cut it.
