The Tennessee Titans held their first open-to-the-public training camp practice at Nissan Stadium on Saturday, and the team was ready. Cam Ward and his receivers were putting on a show, including Treylon Burks, who made a diving one-handed catch only to get up holding his shoulder.
It was a fantastic throw and a great catch, except that he landed out of bounds. But that catch showed why the Titans have kept Burks around the last few seasons. Unfortunately, he continues to suffer injuries, including what appears to be a shoulder injury on that reception.
Burks is in the final year of his rookie contract and is likely to hit the free agency market during the offseason unless he has a breakout year. Having a breakout year for Burks doesn't just mean performance and production; it means staying healthy enough to be on the field.
Over his first three seasons in Nashville, Burks hasn't played a full 17 games one time. He played 11 games in each of his first two seasons and appeared in just five games last season before going down with an injury. The good news is that he was a full-go for camp.
