I continue to see good reports about Hightower. Seems like opinion is reversing on him from draft day. (Initial react was "who is this guy?") A couple of days of ago, he was getting some 2nd team reps. Today he was getting some first team reps.

Interested in what folks that have seen him think. Will he win the backup job? Will he see a few carries a game spelling Edge? Would you feel comfortable with him as the starter should Edge get hurt?

I like all the positive comments, but Kemp's comment about his poor pass protection scares me. He said something about Hightower missing an assignment that would have gotten Leinart's head taken off if it was a regular season game.

Pass pro is always the biggest concern for rookie running backs. TC is the time to learn. He has the size to be a good pass protector.

Although the reports are great to hear. I think they all have to be taken with a grain of salt. Cant really learn that much until the hitting really starts in preseason.

This guy was given mythical status by some people here. Rule #1 in my signature.

I remain in the "he's a good project to have" camp.

Exactly. I am stoked with how he looks and it gives me reason for optimism. However I want to see him in an actual game before I get to excited. I cant even begin to say how good Lance long looks either. Want to see him when the bodies are flying to. No convinced with Breaston AT ALL. Still dropping a few to many balls.

But wouldn't it be great if the Cards could finally catch lightning in a bottle for a change as opposed to having a 1st or 2d round bust?

I think his prospects for his rookie season are 6-12 touches per game, 4.2 YPC (softened, guard-down defenses), and 2-5 TDs. That totals out to about 600 yards.

There's no doubt that he is the #2 RB, at least in my mind. Weird that we haven't really heard boo about Marcel Shipp.

That sounds about right to me too. Unless Edge gets hurt of course.

Right. If Edge gets hurt, I think it goes down to 3.5 YPC and the TD count tops at 3.

Also, I think the Cards season would be largely over.

Excuuuuse me. :) If mythical status is a potentially better backup RB that the Cards have had in a long time, then sign me up for the Zeus Hightower Club. :)

All I know is we lack talent in the depth side of our running attack. He hits the hole hard and quick. That is enough to be excited about.

As for pass protection, he has one of the best to learn off of.

Ideally - 350 Rushing, 2 TD. Anything more than that is gravy.
