Apparently, Drumpfy sought Tiger’s consultation on the last tax bill. I’m not joking...

Who makes the determination as to what is worthwhile and what isn't? Are people who can actually multitask and multifocus included or excluded?

I don't really disagree with your overall view but what it should be remembered that what we "blow off" today might well turn into tomorrow's headlines.

As a sports fan I am not going to bitch about Tiger getting an award. However, let's call this out like it is. Leave it up to Trump to capitalize on an opportunity to put himself next to a successful monitory for a photo op.

Does anybody here really think he gives a flying F about Tiger?

Not worth getting all worked up about but we can acknowledge what this is.

Actually, I think he gives an F about power and golf. And that's about it. Tiger just happened to be on the TV while he was furiously presidentin' and probably decided this needed to take priority. I'm willing to bet the ceremony will have a lot more to do with Trump than Tiger.

Now that you mention it, I'm amazed Trump hasn't thought of that. Donate a million dollars to his re-election campaign, get a medal. I'm sure there would be plenty of takers.

Slightly different but I don't think Obama NEEDED to put a minority out there to convince people like...."there's my black person".

I think it is dismissing Tigers major accomplishment assuming that this only happened because he is a minority. You said yourself that the game of golf matters a lot to him financially, I dont think this has a lot to do with him being colored.

Woods is a jerk, but I'm not sure he cracks the top 10% of jerk-ness across the general population. Given that the list is mainly athletes and entertainers, it is basically a hall of fame, like others have mentioned. My guess is that the reason Woods wasn't already given a medal is that (a) prior to 2009, it looked like there was no hurry, and (b) starting in 2009, his jerk-ness too severely overshadowed his athletic accomplishments. That balance has now shifted back to Woods's favor, so the timing makes sense.

Not true. I am not dismissing Tiger's accomplishments and I said above if he gets an award I am good with that. One has nothing to do with the other. You just have to look at Trump's past actions and using minorities like token photo ops and his track record with race. We have seen this behavior time and time again from him.

Also, I said he cares about the BUSINESS of golf.

I did. I didnt want to type black, since he is not "black" and it felt redundant to keep typing minority over and over. I mean, when you say minority, you are talking about people of color.
