Trump says Tiger Woods will receive Medal of Freedom
BY JORDAN FABIAN - 04/15/19 01:43 PM EDT

President Trump said Monday that he will award Tiger Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, on the heels of the pro golf great's comeback win at last weekend’s Masters Tournament.

“Spoke to @TigerWoods to congratulate him on the great victory he had in yesterday’s @TheMasters, & to inform him that because of his incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more importantly, LIFE, I will be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!” Trump tweeted.

If Woods were any kind of a decent human being, he would tell Drumpf to take an aeronautical intercourse at a motivated circular pastry.

I'm as big a Tiger fan as anybody but I'm not down with this. His charitable foundation has done some good things and he inspired a generation of kids but this just didn't need to be done, imo

It's a political stunt. Trump making nice with a black man? He LOVES black people! He is so transparent.

I actually have no problem with this. Is he worthy? I don't know, but I'd say he's no less worthy than a bunch of other recipients I've seen, ie, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer. The list is very long.

Sure, but does that make it ok? I'm not sure I follow. It's ok to give it to someone undeserving because it was given to others undeserving in the past?

if it has been given to golfers before, than it is a pointless medal anyway. As soon as that happened, it is tainted and useless like the pro bowl.

    I totally agree.

I had never really paid attention to the medal of freedom before. In fact I had no idea why someone got one. So I looked it up:

What Tiger did this weekend was amazing. I would consider it a culturally significant event.

Is it kind of stupid to give him a Medal of Freedom? Yes.

Do I have a problem with it? No.
