Which actor do you think sold his soul to Satan in order to have a Hollywood career? My nominees are Steve Guttenberg & Andrew McCarthy.

Ugh, Marisa Tomei is one great actress, not to mention one of the most beautiful women in the world...

Did you see My Cousin Vinny? Hardly an Oscar winning performance

Um, she didn't give herself an oscar.

Yeah she sold her soul to the Devil and he made it so.....is that not the topic of this thread?

I can't believe even YOU felt she deserved the Oscar from My Cousin Vinny.

sigh.

Did I say that? No I didn't. I'm just saying that George Burns didn't offer her the Oscar for choosing crappy projects afterwards.

Let's look at the Best Supporting Category of that year: 1993

My Cousin Vinny (1992) - Marisa Tomei
Enchanted April (1992) - Joan Plowright
Fatale (1992) - Miranda Richardson
Howards End (1992) - Vanessa Redgrave
Husbands and Wives (1992) - Judy Davis

Out of those, Tomei seems out of place, but nobody really saw those other movies. Husbands and Wives was weighted by the controversy surrounding Woody at the time, and Howards End was just too heavy. Who actually saw Fatale and Enchanted April?

Everybody is complaining about how the Oscars are just a popularity contest. Out of those 5, is it really a surprise that she won the award?

I actually loved My Cousin Vinny, and she did a great job. But Best Supporting? Of course that's an odd choice, but look at the alternatives.

Keanu for sure, hands down, there is no doubt in my mind.

Honorable mentions - Shelly Duval, Lou Diamond Phillips, Christian Slater and Ralph Macchio
