I love Pope Francis. He walks the walk.

I grew up Catholic and went to Catholic school through High School. After HS I left the church and became an Atheist. I always felt the Popes of the past were hypocrites.

While I'm no longer religious at all, Pope Francis has always inspired me. As Linder puts it he Walks the Walk. I have a ton of respect for that man.

We have a similar past MadCardDisease. But I would say I am agnostic rather than atheist. I can't prove it one way or the other. All of my immediate family is very devoutly Catholic and they have been encouraging me to check him out. When he embraced the science of evolution, and of global climate change, he won me over.

Anyhow, my parents pray a rosary for me every day, so I guess I have that going for me. :)

That is hilarious...in that I have the exact same background/history. Even went to mass twice a week (with the class on Wednesdays, and parents on Sundays). I also went as far as going into a Jesuit pre-novitiary where, ironically, my atheism formed as I studied Theology and world religions with an objective and (unfortunately for the church) scientific mindset.

Wildly agree with this sentiment. Pope Francis is the polar opposite of Trump.

Let's not get too carried away...... He's so a Pope and as such carries some pretty regressive beliefs.

I will give him credit for a lot of the outreach and not being afraid to speak on a wide variety of matters.

Here is a young boy asking the Pope if his atheist father would go to heaven.
