Any person working in any school kitchen is told they can not provide meals for free unless the student qualifies for it...period. I have heard it called theft and it is. Like I said I gave away many meals on my time without expectation of payment but I also knew they could fire me for doing so. Under the rules I was stealing. Sorry you guys can't comprehend this.

I understand that just fine, as does anyone else reading your insult. You conveniently miss the point. Yeah, technically she's breaking the rules, but so do you when you jaywalk, or fudge a little on your taxes or any other bs unlawful thing that people do daily. So the chitheads running the school take away this lady's livelihood because she MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR A KID TO EAT! AND THE KID PAID IT BACK! Schools throw away food at the end of the day, but noooooooooo...... the rules are the rules so we'll can this lady for $8 transgression. Too F'in bad, kid! Let him eat cake!.

This could have been handled sooooooooo much better, but the school and AZCB34 say, Nope! The rules are the rules!

Sorry..... that line of thinking simply sucks. :thumbdown

The "rules" sometimes provide a reason to fire someone you'd prefer to get rid of. I wonder what her history with the school administration is.

Maybe, but a quick search yielded no results on that line....

If it's true, then obviously that's different.

And that might well be true. We don't know what is actually true as the two side's stories are wildly different.

I'm with you Chris. More than likely she knew the kids family wasn't well off & probably didn't eat well at home so she gave him extras. Probably felt sorry for the kid. We just don't know the whole story.
