As Aaron Rodgers continues his will-they-won't-they with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the NFL has come through and given the former MVP the perfect excuse to save everyone the trouble and just retire.

Rodger's preferred helmet — the Schutt Air XP Pro Q11 LTD — has been banned by the NFL, As ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio pointed out. Rodgers wore the model during the 2024 season. Now it's entirely unavailable.

But Rodgers should really see this as great news. He now has everything he's ever wanted: A reason to give up pro football, not because he is a shell of himself on the field (which he is), but because the league won't let him protect himself how he wants to. Sure, his brain is already mush, but would anything be more Rodgers than grandstanding over an objectively good safety regulation that impacts his personal health decisions?

Seriously, this kind of exit ramp doesn't come around often. Make a scene and retire, Aaron. Do you really want to endure another season with a QBR of 48? Especially in Pittsburgh, where the fans won't have other miserable teams to distract them? Hard pass.

The NFL just gift-wrapped you a completely on-brand gripe. Take it and run far, far away from this league for good.
