HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Three former Penn State administrators facing child endangerment charges for their handling of the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal want permission to pursue an appeal with about a month left before trial.

Former President Graham Spanier, former Vice President Gary Schultz and former Athletic Director Tim Curley filed nearly identical requests this week that ask the trial judge to let them appeal his recent decision keeping in place felony charges of endangering the welfare of children.

The defendants argue too much time has elapsed, they didn't directly care for children, they're accused of actions that occurred before the law was changed and prosecutors shouldn't be allowed to add a conspiracy charge.

These child endangerment charges are fallout from the coverup in incidents involving Sandus
Former Penn State athletic director Tim Curley and former vice president Gary Schultz each pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of child endangerment on Monday, according to the Associated Press. The charge stems from their role in the Jerry Sandusky child molestation case.

Curley and Schultz pleaded guilty in a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, courtroom. The charges against them carry a maximum fine of $10,000 and up to five years in prison. There is no word on what kind of sentence, if any, either will face following their guilty pleas.

Prosecutors seek jail time for ex-Penn State president
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Prosecutors want a judge to jail former Penn State President Graham Spanier for his conviction in hushing up suspected child sex abuse in 2001 by Jerry Sandusky, saying he could have prevented other boys from being victimized by the former assistant football coach.

In a court filing unsealed Thursday, the Pennsylvania attorney general’s office also assailed two one-time Penn State administrators for their testimony in Spanier’s March trial after they pleaded guilty in the case.

Sentencing for all three men is Friday in Dauphin County court.

This is all I could find on Spanier.
Rather, he said, he was busy with fundraising and other duties of the presidency and content to let his senior lieutenants, Tim Curley and Gary Schultz, take the lead on the issue -- especially after he had been led by them to believe that the incident was based on nothing more than "horsing around."

Spanier also reiterated his prior public assertions that he had no recollection of hearing about an earlier 1998 shower allegation against Sandusky that had been investigated by university police.
