The D-backs select RHP Zach Pop in the Rule 5 Draft from Baltimore
D-Backs take RHP Zack Pop from Os. Big arm (high 90s) coming off TJ surgery but has had success.
The Diamondbacks take Zach Pop in the Rule 5 draft. Pop, a right-handed reliever in the Orioles system, originally was drafted by the Dodgers and went to Baltimore in the Manny Machado trade.
Pop had Tommy John surgery in May 2019. Before surgery, he had a fastball that reportedly sat in the mid-to-upper 90s and touched 100 mph.
#Dbacks Rule 5 selection RHP Zach Pop is a severe ground-ball thrower with a good strikeout rate. He has 80 Ks in 80.1 IP and has given up 1 HR in 3 minor league seasons, last two at AA with #Orioles. Former Dodgers 7th- rounder sent to Baltimore in 2018 Machado trade.
It looks like he has been traded to Miami for a player to be named later . Thought he would have made a nice bullpen piece .
What was the point in taking him in Rule 5 draft?
That's what I am trying to understand as well.
