The Concerning Trend Affecting a Former WWE World Champion originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
WWE's roster is oozing with talent, but the lack of parody in the main event scene has plagued programming. The lack of fluidity up and down the card has made weekly television increasingly predictable.
Creative is seemingly grooming the likes of Bronn Breakker and Stephanie Vaquer for prominent pushes, but what about some other major stars at the tail end of their careers who should be getting one last main event run? One former WWE World Champion has been in a stunning slump, with one stat perfectly capturing his shocking descent.

The X account "Wrestle Ops" recently posted an eye-popping Finn Balor stat that shows how the current regime values the ex-Universal Champion.
"Today (June 3rd) marks one full year since Finn Balor last won a singles match," Wrestle Opps tweeted. "Balor has gotten only three wins in singles-action within the past 2 years."
What makes this figure even more jarring is just how prevalent Balor has been on television as a key member of the Judgement Day stable. While the group helped elevate Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, and Dominik Mysterio, Balor has suffered as "the fall guy" and has never been properly compensating for help getting that trio over.
The company has been teasing dissension between Balor and Mysterio, but the latter has to escape this faction vortex and go back to being an engaging babyface. Balor's exciting moveset makes him challenging to boo and is more organic as a loveable underdog.
Balor recently inked a five-year extension with WWE, but his absence from PLEs and lack of success is perplexing. The 43-year-old will be on the sidelines again for "Money in the Bank," with the show rundown likely being finalized.
