We're not that good and with Skyy Clark still out probably not getting better anytime soon but yesterday UCLA got absolutely hosed in a 2 OT loss to Indiana.
On a missed shot by IU the ball went out of bounds with 1.5 seconds left under the IU basket. It very clearly went off Indiana's #11 but the refs said IU ball. UCLA correctly challenged the call, 5 minutes of review later while UCLA was so sure it was their ball they were drawing up a play to run to try and get a last shot, the refs said call is upheld, UCLA loses it's challenge Indiana ball. The play in question the IU player, who is white, was battling UCLA player Brandon Williams who is black, so it was really easy when watching the replay to figure out which hand belongs to which player and it went off IU. I have multiple friends who are IU fans who said bad call clearly UCLA ball,
After that IU inbounds under the basket, they ran the exact play Cronin told his team they would but apparently one player was in the wrong place, Dent fouled trying to tie up the IU player diving to the rim and catching the ball, foul with .3 on the clock. Kid went up made the first FT and IU won by 1 point.
After the game Cronin said I've only seen it once on an Ipad but it was our ball as far as I saw, my staff all told me it was off them it will get overturned. They didn't give us an explanation for not overturning it so we just played. I'm assuming because they ruled IU ball live, they said the replay wasn't 100% conclusive so they didn't overturn it but they didn't say that, they just said IU ball. There are IU fans who are saying it's a good call but many of them are admitting it wasn't But still fouling with 1.5 seconds is just inexcusable have to defend the inbounds
UCLA had been down 11 with 1:31 left and tied it up sent it to OT.
Both teams were exhausted but especially UCLA which basically played 7 guys. Dent played all 50 minutes several guys in the mid 40 minutes.
Really hurts UCLA I figure they have to go 7-2 the last 9 to guarantee a bid or 26-3 and a good run in the conf tourney. That's hard to do with Michigan, Mich State, Illinois and Nebraska still on the schedule. Boy do they need Skyy Clark
