As good as time as any to start up a thread for the reigning NBA champs.

It'll be interesting to see who we can retain and who we'll bring in for the next run.

Lakers To Show Free-Agency Interest in Raptors Big Man: Sources

    https://heavy.com/sports/los-angeles-lakers/lakers-free-agency-serge-ibaka/

No matter what happens for the Lakers in the days after the upcoming NBA draft, when the league will begin its free-agency period, they will likely try to lure multiple veterans seeking to play for a contender to L.A., offering a chance at a championship but unable to offer a sizable payout as the team sits over the salary cap already.

One target is Raptors big man Serge Ibaka, according to executives around the league.

The Lakers will be handing out rings and hoisting a banner at Staples Center on Dec. 22.

LeBron James welcomes 'a flat out dog' Dennis Schröder to Lakers

    https://lebronwire.usatoday.com/202...mes-a-flat-out-dog-dennis-schroder-to-lakers/

The Los Angeles Lakers officially made their big move after making the 28th pick in yesterday’s 2020 NBA Draft, trading the pick, and Danny Green to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for 8-year point guard Dennis Schröder. Schröder has plenty of experience running the show alongside other great players, such as Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, and Paul George, while he’s coming off arguably the best season of his career.

Los Angeles Lakers, Marc Gasol agree to 2-year deal

    https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30368804/sources-los-angeles-lakers-marc-gasol-agree-2-year-deal

The Los Angeles Lakers are shoring up their defending championship run by adding a big man with championship experience whose career started with the purple and gold.

The Lakers are finalizing a two-year deal with center Marc Gasol, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe.

The free-agent signing, which would pry Gasol away from several other interested contenders by offering a longer deal, requires some maneuvering on the part of Lakers vice president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka to manage the salary cap.

L.A. is trading center JaVale McGee and a future second-round pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers to help make room for Gasol, a source told Wojnarowski. Cleveland is sending Jordan Bell and Alfonzo McKinnie to the Lakers in the deal, sources said.

Lakers sign 'Sixth Man of the Year' Harrell from Clippers

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/lakers-sign-sixth-man-of-the-year-harrell-from-clippers/

NBA champions Los Angeles Lakers have signed 'Sixth Man of the Year' Montrezl Harrell from the Clippers, the league said.

The switch comes after a stellar season from Harrell, who averaged career-highs of 18.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.

The 26-year-old led the league with 11 double-doubles off the bench as he helped the Clippers earn the second seed in the Western Conference before they were knocked out by the Denver Nuggets in the conference semi-finals.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope re-signing with Lakers on three-year, $40 million deal, per report

    https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...ers-on-three-year-40-million-deal-per-report/

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is re-signing with the Los Angeles Lakers on a three-year, $40 million deal, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. The third year of the deal includes a partial guarantee. This is now the fourth consecutive offseason in which Caldwell-Pope has signed a contract with the Lakers. He originally joined the team in 2017 after starting his career with the Detroit Pistons and has been playing under one-year deals ever since. Now, he gets the long-term security he's been looking for since 2017, and he gets it with the championship contender he's been with for the past three seasons.
