OKLAHOMA CITY — Either Texas softball or Texas Tech will make history Friday in the third and final game in the best-of-three championship series at the Women's College World Series in Devon Park.
Neither school has ever won a national championship, but one of these teams will become the first squad to hoist the title trophy for the first time since Florida State in 2018. The winner will also become the first champion from the state of Texas since Texas A&M in 1987.

But who will survive Game 3? It's anyone's guess based on how the first two games played out. Texas (55-12) scored two late runs in the first game on Wednesday to win, 2-1. A Longhorn rally fell just short Friday in Texas Tech's 4-3 victory.
Expect a fifth meeting between Texas Tech star pitcher NiJaree Canady and Texas ace Teagan Kavan. Canady has thrown every inning for the Red Raiders (54-13) at the WCWS while Kavan has yet to allow an earned run in 24 ⅔ innings in Oklahoma City. Kavan has won each of the four other games she started opposite Canady, including two last season in the WCWS when Canady threw for Stanford, a nonconference thriller earlier this season, and the first game of this year's championship series.
