As the Texas Longhorns continue to build for the future, they have started making offers to prospects in the 2028 class. The latest player to be added to that list is Ismael Schiefer. The talented edge prospect announced that he had received an offer from Texas on Friday morning.

At the moment, the Longhorns competition includes Auburn, Duke, Florida, South Carolina, and Mississippi State, according to 247Sports. That list should continue to grow over the next few months. Recruiting for the 2028 class is just beginning, making it important for Texas to get involved in the Schiefer sweepstakes early on.

So far, the Longhorns have cast a wide net when it comes to the 2028 class. They also made an offer to offensive lineman Jai'Storm Knight. He attended the Longhorns camp on June 1st, which included some of the top prospects in the next the country.

In his post on X, Schiefer took the time to thank everyone who has been involved in the process so far. The next step for the Longhorn is finding a way to get him to campus for a visit. Lately, the Longhorns have thrived in developing edge rushers and are looking to include Ismael on that list.

With only one year of high school football on his resume, Schiefer should continue improving before reaching college. If he continues to build on his game, his stock will rise as offers continue to roll in. With plenty of holes to fill in the 2028 class, Schiefer is a player to watch for Texas.
