For the Texas baseball program, the hunt for a seventh national championship begins today.
Texas will open up regional play on Friday afternoon with a game at UFCU Disch-Falk Field against Houston Christian. A 64-time qualifier for college baseball's postseason, Texas is chasing its first national title since the 2005 season. Earlier this week, Texas was awarded the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA's 64-team field.
Texas (42-12) and Houston Christian (32-23) have already played once this season as UT recorded a run-ruled rout of the Huskies in Austin on April 8. Win or lose, Texas and Houston Christian will play either UTSA (44-13) or Kansas State (31-24) on Saturday as the Austin Regional, which is a double-elimination competition, progresses.
