Tennessee is recruiting toward its 2027 football signing class. The Vols offered a scholarship to three-star quarterback Derrick Baker.
"Truly blessed to receive an offer from Vol football," Baker announced. "Thank you coach (Joey) Halzle, go Vols!"
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound quarterback moved from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Milton High School in Milton, Georgia. Milton is home to Tennessee freshman defensive backs Ty Redmond and Dylan Lewis.
247Sports ranks Baker as the No. 29 quarterback in 2027 and the No. 50 player in Georgia.
South Florida was the first school to offer Baker a scholarship on Dec. 5, 2023. Additional Power Four programs to offer a scholarship to him include Indiana, Kentucky,Ole Miss, Miami, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Maryland, Mississippi State, Wake Forest, UCF, TCU, Ohio State, Auburn, Purdue, Illinois, Florida State and Virginia.
Tennessee does not have any commitments in its 2027 football recruiting class. The Vols have eight commitments in their 2026 football recruiting class: quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver Tyreek King, tight end Carson Sneed, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda, wide receiver Tyran Evans, linebacker Braylon Outlaw, defensive lineman C.J. Edwards and defensive lineman Zach Groves.
