No. 18 Tennessee’s 2025 football season will kick off in two weeks. Rankings reflect the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Ahead of the Vols’ season opener versus Syracuse at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, Bill Connelly of ESPN released updated SP+ rankings. Tennessee is ranked No. 12 overall.

“SP+ is a tempo-and opponent-adjusted measure of college football efficiency,” Connelly said. “It is a predictive measure of the most sustainable and predictable aspects of football, not a résumé ranking, and, along those same lines, these projections aren't intended to be a guess at what the AP top 25 will look like at the end of the year. These are simply early offseason power rankings based on the information we have been able to gather to date."

Connelly also ranked Tennessee’s offense No. 33, the Vols’ defense fourth and special teams No. 21 nationally. He projects the Vols to win 8.9 games in 2025 with the No. 24 strength of schedule ranking.
