Is anybody else watching this guy tear up the magic? I know hindsight is 20/20, but Prince is the guy I wanted to Suns to draft instead of Casey Jacobsen.

Oh well. I hope the Suns make a good choice with the 17th pick. I would like to see them take an experienced player who can make a contribution next year instead of a project player.

Yeah, I was hoping the Suns would take either Boozer or Prince........

I don't really understand why the Suns wanted Casey anyways since then had guys with similar game and got rid of them all (Del Negro, Beuchler, Crispin). To me it seems like they reached too far for a need rather than taking the best available player. Casey probably would have gone early to mid 2nd round.

Well, hindsight is 20/20 of course. But when do you make the decision to draft on need, rather than best player available? End of the first round, well, we probably should have gone best player available, but at the time, Casey was rated about the same as Prince or Boozer. Like I said, 20/20, but at the time it appeared we got something we needed (shooting) for a comparable price.

Yes, it was a reasonable selection and it wasn't a huge mistake, probably just a small one.....

Give Casey 2 more years before all of you give up on him. Its way too soon. Remember Steve Nash? He didnt do anything for a few years and is now an all-star calibur player.

I don't know. Nash was quite successful in a Suns uniform as a PG off the bench. He actually looked better as a Sun, than he did with the Mavericks early on, but he really came on later.

Come on. Casey's minutes were sporadic at best, and from yesterday's azcentral article, they are going to try to work on his outside shot as well. Casey deserves a little time to mesh with the team, don't you think?

Actually, this complaining is pretty strange, considering Alton Ford has been around so long and done absolutely nothing, but he is so well-loved by so many people on this board. Talk about hypocritical.

I do think but IMO Prince is a more special player, he has more upside and he isn't a worse player right now than Jacobsen.
That's why I think that Prince would have been a better pick than Jacobsen.

Exactly. I'm not bagging on Casey Jacobsen as much as I am singing the praises of Tayshaun Prince. I think Prince is and will be a better player. I think he could have made a difference on this year's team. He produced when Detroit started giving him minutes, and he would have been given plenty of time here in Phoenix. I like CJ. He seems like a very cool person. I think that played a big part in why he was drafted by the Suns. I wasn't devastated when they took him. There were just other players I would have preferred.

And there's a big difference between Casey Jacobsen and Alton Ford. In fact there are several big differences. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Some people say that late first-round draft picks are a crapshoot. I'm not sure I agree with that, but I definitely think second round draft picks are a crapshoot. Alton Ford's contract was shorter and not guaranteed. On top of that Ford did not see 1-10 th of Jacobsen's playing time. And I gave up on him long ago.

I believe the key to Casey Jacobsen's future in the NBA is learning to get a shot off more quickly. This season he needed 5 minutes to take a three-point shot.

Ok, this is the last time I'm saying this. ;) We do not love Alton Ford. It's just that he appeared to have potential and we wanted him to get some playing time so we could see if he was worth keeping around. If he sucked I don't think anybody would have felt bad if he stayed on the bench. But he never got off long enough for us to see. They are going to let him go and we still don't know.

Does anybody here want to see Jacobsen learn that Marbury(teardrop?)..it's either 3pt or drive all the way for Casey.

I want everyone on the suns to learn marbury's tear drop. IMO it is one of the most un guardable/blockable shots in the game today.

The suns might be in the second round, if Tony Parker hadn't learned that tear drop shot.

I immediately didn't like what I see out of CJ after watching a summer league game. He has short arms and legs that are not proportional to his body, which limit his abilities to defend, dribble and get his shot off. He needs extra arm extension to do basketball motions than other NBA players that are physically gifted. He looks kind of funny when he drives to basket and attempts a layup.

The only potential CJ has is his 3pt shooting. I think he is a very good 3pt shooter, but he needs to find a way to release his jump shots quicker.

I really wanted Rush or Woods with that 22nd pick, but they went right before we pick. On the draft night I thought a PF like Baxter, Boozer or a PG like Frank Williams or Dickau would make more sense than a SG since Rush or Woods as the best player available were gone.

I just saw the 7th game between ORL-DET.

Jesus,Prince is a decent defender as well!

I knew that he had a good outside-inside game (matured post-up play, ugly but dangerous 3P-shooting ala Shawn Marion) and he is a decent ball-handler to his size (he played some PG for Kentucky) but it was completely new for me that he could guard Tracy McGrady pretty well although T-Mac was obviously tired.

No doubt, already now he is a better player than Jacobsen and he has more upside.

I was somewhat surprised the Suns didn't take Prince over Jacobson since we had more need of a backup at SF than SG. Maybe they thought they were getting exceptional BBall smarts or clutch long range shooting... so far neither of those appear to be the case.

What I wanted them to do was pick one of well regarded 'bigs' that were still on the board. I favored Gadzuric but Boozer would have been better in retrospect. In any case, it's downright silly to pass on decent bigs at #22... the basketball gods were trying to give us a present but BC wasn't paying attention....

You've got to be kidding, right?

Amare more than compensated for that pick.

Also, why has everybody proclaimed CJ a bust?? Give the guy a chance. He's a helluva baller, yet most of you just want that instant success.

How many 2 guards in this league find there niche during the first year? Even most lottery pick 2 guards struggle early.

CJ has the tools. They need refined. If he puts in the work, he'll be a bitch to guard someday. Mark my words.

I definitely think the draft was a success over all, but it would have been better if they had taken Carlos Boozer or Tayshaun Prince at No.21. And those are guys many of us wanted instead of Casey Jacobsen. We're not talking passing on Michael Redd or some other guy nobody thought about.

I haven't given up on Casey Jacobsen. I just wish they would have taken one of these other guys.
