Tuesday the Suns begin a tough four game road trip starting with the Pacers. After the Pacers the Suns play the Raptors, Hornets, and Timberwolves.

The Pacers are playing extremely well with a 28-14 record. They beat the Knicks 121-106 on Friday.

The Suns (11-33) are flexing their defensive muscle after beating Western Conference leader Denver Nuggets on Saturday 102-93. Hopefully the Suns can maintain their defensive intensity.

No word on whether Devin Booker will play yet.

The game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. Arizona time and it will be televised on FSAZ.

Despite all the injuries this year, Booker is having a career year. His 24.8 points and 6.9 assists per game make him one of five players in the NBA posting those averages, joining Kevin Durant, James Harden, LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard.

He has personally been on the floor for just four of those seven wins in the past month, and has the team’s worst point differential when he does play, at a minus-4.8 per game in 12 games (4-8 record). That negative differential is nearly double that of the next-worst Suns player in that span.

How is it possible a team’s best player — team leader in points, assists, free throws and attempts — can have the worst impact on the scoreboard during that stretch of basketball?

To be clear, this recent stretch of success without Booker is an anomaly.

Earlier this season, the Suns lost their first nine games without him and over the years, their winning percentage without him has been worse. And like I said, he’s had huge moments in the clutch. So he hasn’t been the problem.

But now, as Booker returns from a three-game absence with the Suns starting a long road trip, he needs to be more of an ingredient than a solution.

Defense, man, defense. It is just as important as offense. Ideally, Warren would be the offensive Booker off the bench. But we know he does not accept that.
